World War II (1934–1949)
The World War II has affected almost all everyone around the world, killing around 75 million people or 3% of the global population at the time. Before this major event happened in history. The Philippines was sitting around being one of the wealthiest countries in South East Asia (SEA), now being one of the poorest. The Philippines failed to achieve rapid economic growth like their neighbor countries like Singapore and Taiwan.
People Power Revolution (1986)
The People Power Revolution gave us Filipinos a chance to fight for our freedom. There was so much violence and electoral fraud in the politics which was not acceptable and it led to end of prominent Martial Law by Ferdinand Marcos. It affected on how the Philippines would be soon be governed and it was a good show of how a nonviolent revolution can work.
Facebook Launch (2004)
Facebook launched in the year 2004, by Mark Zuckerburg and Dustin Mockovitz. It is a social networking platform and it has revolutionized the way people interact and connect. Facebook has been a solid staple for people who would like to chat and talk to people from all over the world. News and videos may also be seen here and it is an important form of social media for all ages.
Apple Launches iPhone (2007)
With the launch of Apple’s new iPhone by Steve Jobs in 2007, the smartphone industry has reached its golden era. People all over the world would flock to get the latest iPhone and it has impacted my life because I use smartphones daily and this invention has led to better phones since competitors are eager to take over the market shares that Apple has.
Covid-19
So far the Covid-19 has impacted everyone’s lives all around the world. Everyone is advised to quarantine and stay at home at all times unless there is a need for supplies or there is an emergency. This pandemic has affected almost all retail stores and threatens them to close down due to the lack of customers coming in. It stopped many public events and everyone is adjusting to the new normal where we do all of our activities such as shopping, buying food, going to the grocery, and more, online.
Advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is starting to be used in situations such as manufacturing, healthcare, technologies, and other more industries to improve productivity, increase efficiency and performance. In the future we might see AI to take over jobs of people in factories or in medical situations to gain accuracy and obtain a competitive advantage.
